The Story

Willett Pot Still Reserve 1.75L. Kentucky Bourbon Distillers, Bardstown, Kentucky — the iconic pot still-shaped single barrel Kentucky straight bourbon aged 8 to 10 years, in a 1.75L half-gallon format for the entertainer, the serious collector, or anyone who wants more of one of American bourbon's most celebrated bottle designs.

The same single barrel, wheated Kentucky straight bourbon as the 750ml — Gold Medal for taste and Double Gold Medal for design at the San Francisco World Spirits Competition 2008, labeled with the individual barrel number, bottle number within the series, and total bottles from the barrel. The 1.75L format delivers more than twice the liquid per purchase while maintaining the Pot Still Reserve's commitment to single barrel provenance: each 1.75L is drawn from a specific barrel.

The Willett family began distilling in Bardstown in the 1930s when Thompson Willett and his son Lambert founded the Willett Distilling Company. Even Kulsveen — Thompson's son-in-law — rebuilt the operation as Kentucky Bourbon Distillers in 1984; his son Drew Kulsveen is the current Master Distiller. Five generations of the same Bardstown family, in a bottle designed to look like the copper pot still where the tradition began.

Tasting Notes

  • Nose: Brown sugar, molasses, caramel, and delicate floral notes from the wheated mash bill's specific aromatic character.
  • Palate: Creamy and graceful — vanilla, cinnamon, caramel, butterscotch, and a hint of mild coffee. The wheat's natural softness makes this one of the most approachable aged single barrel bourbons available.
  • Finish: Mint, spice, and earthy wood character in a clean, satisfying close.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Is the 1.75L from a single barrel? Yes — like the 750ml, each 1.75L Pot Still Reserve is labeled with its individual barrel number, the bottle number within the series, and the total bottles from that barrel. Single barrel provenance applies regardless of format.
  • Is this the same whiskey as the 750ml Pot Still Reserve? Yes — the same single barrel, wheated Kentucky straight bourbon aged 8–10 years, in a larger format. The 1.75L represents better per-ounce value for those who know they love Pot Still Reserve.
