The Story

Neisson Rhum Blanc 105. Distillerie Neisson, Martinique — the overproof expression of Neisson's AOC Martinique rhum agricole, bottled at a robust 52.5% ABV (105 proof), amplifying the signature grassy, citrusy, and tropical fruit aromatics of the distillery's fresh sugarcane juice production for those who want the full intensity of Neisson's terroir character.

Distillerie Neisson was founded in 1931 by the Neisson family on Martinique's northwestern coast near Le Carbet, on volcanic soils beneath Montagne Pelée. It remains one of the smallest, most artisan operations on the island — a family distillery producing exclusively from fresh Martinique sugarcane juice under the island's AOC designation, which is the only rum-specific Appellation d'Origine Contrôlée in the world.

The Blanc 105 is the same agricole base as Neisson's standard Blanc, but bottled at a higher proof to deliver more aromatic intensity and greater cocktail presence. At 52.5% ABV, the cane-fresh citrus, grassiness, and tropical fruit notes that define Neisson's style are amplified without losing the balance that makes the distillery's agricole exceptional. The higher proof also makes it the ideal base for Ti' Punch and other cane-forward cocktails where the spirit is the primary flavor.

Tasting Notes

  • Nose: Citrus, tropical fruit, and the signature grassy freshness of Martinique sugarcane. More intense than the standard Blanc, with the alcoholic strength opening up additional aromatic complexity.
  • Palate: The full expression of Neisson's terroir at elevated proof. Cane-forward with citrus, tropical fruit, grass, and the characteristic earthiness of northern Martinique sugarcane. Complex and vigorous.
  • Finish: Clean and long. The agricultural cane character carries through the elevated proof with grassiness and a fresh, warm close.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • What does Neisson Blanc 105 taste like? Citrus, tropical fruit, and fresh grassiness on the nose — more intense than the standard Blanc. Full cane-forward expression on the palate with citrus, tropical fruit, and Martinique terroir character. Clean, long, warm finish.
  • What is the difference between Neisson Blanc and Blanc 105? Both are the same AOC Martinique agricole from the same estate cane. The 105 is bottled at 52.5% ABV vs 50% for the standard Blanc, delivering more aromatic intensity and greater cocktail presence. For Ti' Punch, the 105 is the traditional choice.
  • What is Ti' Punch? The classic Martinique cocktail — rhum agricole, fresh lime, and cane syrup, served without ice in Martinique tradition. The agricole character is the entire point of the drink, which is why Neisson Blanc 105 is one of the ideal spirits for making it.
  • Is Neisson Blanc 105 good for cocktails beyond Ti' Punch? Excellent for any cocktail where rhum agricole character is the primary flavor: Daiquiri, Mojito with agricole, or the classic Planter's Punch. The elevated proof holds up well in diluted applications.
