The Story
Michter's Single Barrel 10 Year Old Bourbon 2024. Michter's Fort Nelson Distillery, Louisville, Kentucky β single barrel, 10 years of patient aging, named "Best American Whiskey" by Food & Wine magazine, released only when Master Distiller Dan McKee and Master of Maturation Andrea Wilson determine available barrels have reached peak maturity.
The 2024 vintage joins a short list of approved annual releases from Michter's contingent 10 Year program. McKee and Wilson evaluate available 10-year barrels on merit β in years when no barrels meet the standard, no release occurs. Each bottle is a single barrel, meaning slight variation between individual barrels is expected and normal.
The Michter's 10 Year's consistent Food & Wine Best American Whiskey recognition reflects what a decade of heat-cycled Kentucky maturation at low barrel entry proof produces: caramel, dried fruit, and oak integration at a depth that most producers at any price point cannot achieve.
Tasting Notes
- Nose: Deep caramel, vanilla, toasted oak, and warm baking spice.
- Palate: Full-bodied with toffee, dried fruit, complex oak, and warm grain sweetness from a decade of barrel contact.
- Finish: Long and warming β caramel and spice fading into a clean, satisfying close.
