Hakushu Distillery was established in 1973 in the Japanese Southern Alps at 700 meters elevation in dense forest. The mountain terroir produces a lighter, herbaceous, and gently smoky single malt distinctively different from Yamazaki's valley richness. The Peated Malt expression uses casks seasoned with peated malt spirit, amplifying Hakushu's natural gentle smokiness through cask influence rather than distillate peat.
